Martin Soul is the musical alias of Martin Calcagno. Born in Norwich, New York, but relocating and growing up in Cincinnati, Ohio, Martin had in interest in punk music and played in a high school band with childhood friends called, PAThetic. Soon after the bands dismissal in 2003, he then moved to Columbus, Ohio and started a new band with college friend, Ian Evans. Their friendship would eventually become "The Echo District". They then set sails for California and met fellow musician Erik Baughn, a like-minded musician who shared similar interests in music direction. The three played throughout the Bay Area until they hit hard times, and Ian left the band. Soon after D Martian picked up the duties on drums with his New Orleans flair and intricate drum lines. The band would soon hit more hard times as Ian passes in 2010, and the band copes with the loss of a great friend. Martin eventually picked up and moved to New York City, where he currently resides in Queens, and assumed the alias Martin Soul, where you can now watch him perform(sometimes even as a one man band, kicking a bass drum and Tamborine and playing keys, guitar, and harmonica).
